I am a freelance sound engineer that has been performing music since I was 6 years old. I started playing music when my mom enrolled me in classical piano classes. I continued with classical piano throughout my childhood, winning many performance competitions and even receiving a scholarship for music to Beloit College, a 4 year college in Wisconsin. It was at Beloit College that I discovered the world of audio recording. At Beloit College I took my first classes in audio engineering and recorded my first mixtapes out my dorm room. Knowing that music was my passion, I moved to Oakland shortly after graduating college in 2007.

For the last 2 years I have had the pleasure of doing my freelance audio engineering work out of the legendary Different Fur Recording Studios in San Francisco's Mission District. Over the last 5 years I have had the pleasure of working with talents such as : Rayven Justice, Laroo THH, Stresmatic of the Federation, Lil Blood, Trill Youngins, G Baby, just to name a few. My mantro is to approach every project with a fresh set of eyes, ears, and thoughts. No project should sound the same in my opinion. My expertise is in Hiphop and R&B, but I am in love with all genres of music.

A resident of the San Francisco electronic and experimental music circuit for over a decade, Matia's work has questioned the line between forward-thinking, avant pop and the depths of the underground.

He honed his craft at the now infamous Asphodel Studios/Recombinant Media Labs where, as an in-house producer and sound designer, he collaborated with the likes of M.I.A., Blixa Bargeld (Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds), and many others responsible for pushing the boundaries of the pop context. Never one to shy from the dark or the unorthodox, his production style is equally inclusive: hardware-centric and exudes the decadence and lushness of the past while integrating the precision and speed of today's studio process.

This ethos has directly attributed to Matia's recent demand and success both in the avant-garde (Peter Baumann/Tangerine Dream, Dark Entries Records) as well as the corporate (Akai Professional, Restoration Hardware). No stranger to incorporating his vast collection of vintage synthesizers, drum machines, and fx processors in whatever production he's currently obsessed with, Matia creates a studio environment that is hands on and tactile while yielding an end product that bleeds uniqueness.

His experience as a touring musician and a recording artist forms the basis of an empathic relatability with his clients. When coupled with his Balkan temperament, this leads to sessions that never feel like work but always accomplish the task.

Born and raised the in the Bay Area, Derek Ted moved to San Francisco to study audio engineering at SFSU in 2007. Since then he has found himself writing and recording his own records and others at many studios and DIY spaces around the bay area. Focusing on a live emotive soundscape, Derek pulls old school analog recording methods mixed with his own DIY approach.  Inspired by artists like Circa Survive, Wye Oak, Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, and Angel Olsen and many more Derek has many different approaches between full band records and solo singer song writer styles. Songwriting is his number on painting a picture with the artists he works with to bring out their emotional colors of the songs they write.

A native San Franciscan, Mars has been producing and releasing music for almost a decade to critical acclaim (Okayplayer, Boiler Room, 2DopeBoyz, Majestic Casual, Soulection Radio). He is extremely versatile in the studio, and can easily play the role of producer, songwriter, session musician, engineer, mixer, or vocal coach, depending on what the client or project needs.

Having spent the majority of his tenure working to develop, and manage independent artists & releases, Mars has a wide-ranging understanding of what it takes to succeed in this ever-shifting industry. He has produced & written for major label artists (Los Rakas, Jahkoy), and composed original music for for hit television shows such as Robot Chicken, MTV Movie Awards, & Dexter.

One of his greatest strengths as a producer is his ability to arrange vocals & instrumentation. Having studied vocal technique, he is adept at helping guide vocalists towards the perfect take. He works similarly with musicians, directing their effortsuntil the part fits perfectly within the sonic landscape. He specializes in R&B, pop, hip-hop, and reggae, but is highly capable of creating in other genres as well.
