Originally from New England, Jade moved to California in her teenage years and later acclimated to the Bay Area to attend and graduate from UC Berkeley. Being classically trained as a Bb Clarinet player and doubling on Bass Clarinet since childhood, Jade has played with many ensembles, including professional groups in her younger years, and continues to produce and write music inspired by the likes of Solid Space, Clams Casino, Big Thief, and David Byrne. She has extended that creative expression into Recording and Audio Engineering. Jade is fresh to Different Fur as of April 2025 and has been apprenticing and refining their technical proficiency under the guidance of studio owners Lien Do and Grace Coleman.
Jade has an incredible respect for the sensitivity required to capture sound and for the creative expression of the artists she has the privilege of collaborating with. They have developed a wide-reaching appreciation for the recording arts, being surrounded by others at Different Fur, including recording in a studio environment, using a large-format console, and mixing in Pro Tools. She has had the opportunity to collaborate with Bobby McFerrin & Motion, Haight Street Art Center, California Bluegrass Association, Yoseff Tucker & The Bow Ties, Red Wood, alongside other artists who have recorded at Different Fur Studios.
