Next Tuesday, Oct. 9th @ Cafe Du Nord, Thrillcall and Different Fur have teamed up to host Thrillcall’s Android Mobile App Launch Party with three of our favorite bands playing, Pop Etc, The Frail and Doe Eye. Download the app here, tickets go on sale today.
Headlining band, POP ETC (formerly known as The Morning Benders) has established themselves as one of the premiere indie rock bands to come out of the Bay Area. Formed in Berkeley and with three full length albums to their name, we’ve had the pleasure of working with the gents of POP ETC on their music, including 2008′s iTunes Indie Album of the Year, Talking Through Tin Cans, and projects such as their infamous Yours Truly video for “Excuses.” As Co-Producer on their debut album, studio owner, Patrick Brown has gotten to know the band since the time when lead vocalist, Chris Chu, worked part-time at Different Fur as an Assistant Engineer to pay for recording costs. He has also worked with a variety of other bands here at Fur, including So Many Wizards, Chloe Makes Music, Alison Harris and A B & The Sea. Let’s welcome Chris and the rest of the band back to the Bay by dancing and reveling in all that is POP ETC.
Self described “Indie-tronic” band, The Frail, always manage to entertain a crowd with their layered sound of synths, hypnotic beats, and falsetto vocals. Their highly energized sets have entertained crowds at festivals such SXSW and Treasure Island and Tuesday’s your chance to see them perform songs from their soon to be released full length album (Produced by Patrick Brown) entitled, LovedeathLegend, at the intimate Cafe du Nord.
Also on the bill is bay area’s sweetheart, Doe Eye. Just released last month her EP, Hotel Fire is already gaining buzz. You can also find Doe Eye featured on new Woof track “Black Roses“, done here at Different Fur with producers Patrick Brown and Robert Pera.
All proceeds for the night go to Oxfam, an international organization working towards a future free of poverty injustice. Doors open at 8pm. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased by downloading your Thrillcall app.
