During last year’s sold out U.S. tour, Blind Pilot stopped by the Different Fur Studios to record an alternate version of “Half Moon” off of their sophomore album We Are the Tide. As part of the Yours Truly “Songs From Scratch” series, the sextet from Portland play a stripped down version that includes an extended trumpet solo and up close view of the many components that incorporate the warmth and texture of Blind Pilot’s music. Tracked by Patrick Brown and mixed by Jorge Hernandez, the video exposes the purity and sincerity of the lyrics and harmonies, truly embodying the “Songs From Scratch” approach.
